What is CrossFit?
CrossFit is defined as “constantly varied, high intensity, functional movement”. To break that down further:
Constantly Vaired: Always changing the workouts, never letting your body adapt. CrossFit is great at getting results because your body never gets use to anything –therefore you don’t reach those fitness plateaus. Plus if you are one of these people that get bored doing the same thing over and over again, this is the place for you! You never know what you’re gonna get! High Intensity: Intensity is varied from person to person. It is essentially the act of creating power – so power/intensity is how much weight you can move over the longest distance in the shortest amount of time. We are not in a hurry however – meaning each athlete will move along at different paces – but everyone will get better. Functional Movement: These are things that our bodies are naturally designed to do – and things we do every day without knowing it. We just put a name to these movements and teach you to do them properly so that you can #1 do them and not get injured and #2 get stronger at doing them. Am I Ready for CrossFit?
Yes! A common misconception about CrossFit is that it is for elite athletes. It is true that some of the world’s most elite athletes are CrossFitters but you don’t have to be one to enjoy this style of fitness. Anyone can CrossFit. My grandma can CrossFit. It would look differently than a 16 year old boy but the fact is fitness is for everyone. It is how that fitness is executed that is different. Everything can be scaled to your level of fitness – and you will NOT be the only one that is scaled.

This is expensive! What do I get for my money?
CrossFit is more expensive than your typical gym. At a typical gym you pay your monthly fees and have access to all of the equipment and classes at a very competitive price. That’s awesome. However – if you are like me you struggle with what to do when you get in there, you feel like you have to be there forever to get enough done, and you easily talk yourself out of going and no one would notice anyway.
Here is what we offer: We plan your workouts: each day you work out, the WOD (workout of the day) is already set for you. We are a community: Everyone works out together. We stretch together, we workout together, we cool down together, and we hang around and talk afterwards. If you’re missing we will notice: We care about your fitness and health. If we don’t see you for a few days we are going to check in with you and help in any way we can. We coach you: During your workout we will encourage you, coach you, push you, and sometimes we might yell at you in a loving "you can do it" kind of way. Nutrition: We are not nutritionists – however we know enough about diet and exercise that we can help you achieve your fitness goals and write up meal plans to get you there. We will give you more: We will offer free classes throughout the year that specialize in things such as nutrition, weightlifting, stretching, etc. We will love you: I know that sounds weird coming from a business and even from a gym. The heartbeat of CrossFit is the community aspect. We want to know you – and we want you to know us. We want to be fit together, but we also want to just do life together. You will not be just a number – you will be a person that we are excited to know. So yes, CrossFit is expensive. But you get a lot of value for your dollar. |
